Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking semester college courses from community colleges or universities for no charge. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university is free. That means no cost to the family of public and private school students for tuition, books or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs. Private high school students must apply to the Ohio Department of Education in order to receive funding to underwrite their costs. This is the responsibility of the family and NOT the attending high school.
Nonpublic and homeschool students are funded through state of Ohio allocations that are designated for each group. The demand for the CCP tuition awards usually far exceeds the supply of available funds. A student who was not state-funded for a particular number of requested college credit hours is not prevented from taking those college courses; however, if she/he chooses to take the college courses, she/he cannot do so as a CCP participant and must self-pay at the college listed tuition rate.

We have had juniors and seniors take advantage of this program and they now have earned college credit while fulfilling high school graduation credit requirements! Learn about CCP now and plan ahead. In our experience, seniors and some juniors have the most free time in their school schedules to take a day-time class, but there are evening, weekend and summer classes for qualified younger and highly motivated students to take.
