Dual Enrollment Program
Dual-enrollment at a college or university is different than College Credit Plus. With a dual-enrollment arrangement, high schools can contract directly with as many colleges as they wish in order to offer a variety of courses for students for a fee. Students might take a class at a local college, or an on-site high school faculty member may be approved by the college to teach a dual-enrollment course. Additionally, a college instructor may teach the class virtually to students at the high school.
In 2018-2019 and 2019-2020,, our Royalmont students have had the option to participate in dual-enrollment literature classes taught by our on-site high school teacher. The instructor teaches in the classroom and the course runs the entire year (two semesters). Royalmont contracts directly with Mount Saint Joseph University, and students may opt to take the course for free for high school credit only, or may opt to take the course for college credit for a fee of approximately $150. The fee is paid by the family directly to the college, and is much less than the same 3 credit hour course would cost for Mt. Saint Joseph's students. This option allows the student to receive dual credit at Royalmont while generating a Mt. Saint Joseph University transcript and gaining college credits.
